About Phil Crusey

Cursey

David Crusey was fire fighter on the Piqua Fire Department most of his life. He was unhappy when they finally retired the ’26 Ahrens Fox and purchased a 1965 model C-125 Mack. But you know, he grew to love that Mack—it was a tough truck! Years flew by and David retired. Of course fire fighters never really retire and when he heard the news that his old ’65 Mack was retired and up for bids you bet he was there with his bid. Everyone in the house was delighted when Dad drove up in front of the house in that big Mack fire truck, especially young Phil. Together he and his dad went to work restoring that engine. It was fun years for Phil and his dad.

Again time passed. Phil married and started a family of his own. His dad passed away and Phil inherited the Mack. Although Phil is now a police officer in Piqua he still loves fire engines and he and his family bring out the Mack for every parade and meet. The kids, three girls and a boy all enjoy the Mack, although Christine, 15 yrs. old, is the only one who can claim to be able to drive it (other than Phil). Like most of us Phil recently experienced the exhilarating joy of rewiring the engine. But after all…that’s half the fun of owning a fire engine isn’t it?
